With four successful clinics in Illinois, he is often called upon to consult with other hypnotists that wish to replicate his model for clinical practice.   William Mitchell is a Certified Instructor for the National Guild of Hypnotists.

Since 1997, he has hypnotized thousands in group seminars, conducted over 150 stage hypnosis events, and currently works with several hundred one-on-one clients each year.   He is also an adjunct faculty member at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, IL serving on their Complementary and Alternative Medicine Panel.   Currently, Mr. Mitchell is a regular host of a VoiceAmerica.com Internet Talk Show - ‘Mind, Body, and Spirit’.

Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts from Culver-Stockton College with a Missouri Secondary Teaching Certificate in Social Studies and graduate theological education at Texas Christian University Brite Divinity School and Phillips University Graduate Seminary in Oklahoma with an earned Master of Divinity.   While serving congregations in Missouri, Nebraska, Kentucky, and Texas he did doctoral work at TCU and has now completed a Professional Doctorate of Hypnotherapy from Madison University.

During his active pastoral ministry he served as President and Moderator of several religious groups.   With Mr. Mitchell’s interest in psychology, he consults with businesses and schools utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and serves as a Presenter and Trainer for New Leaf Resources, a grief-recovery company.   Mr. Mitchell’s professional memberships include:

The first time I was approached about learning hypnosis, I thought “How hokey!”   However, I checked with a good psychologist in my church and he said, “Hypnosis is great; it doesn’t cure everything - nothing does - but hypnosis is a great tool.”   As soon as I began learning and doing hypnosis sessions for weight loss, I was convinced my psychologist friend was right!   Immediately, I lost weight (35 pounds), my clients lost weight, and suddenly I had a new additional career as a hypnotist.

As a Christian, you learn very quickly that your job is often to get out of the way and allow the Spirit to use you as a tool or vessel so that others lives’ may be influenced for the good.   As a hypnotist, I believe hypnosis is a tool individuals use to improve their lives.   I’m simply the vessel through which people experience the amazing power of hypnosis.   Everyday I am amazed when my clients stop smoking, lose weight, and find relief from stress and other problems.

I practice as a hypnotist because I enjoy helping people make healthy changes in their lives.   Both the mind and the heart are engaged in a good hypnosis session.   Change, true change, is always both mental and emotional.   Hypnosis allows me to serve in a very practical and important manner.

Hypnosis is also very fun. For six years I have also been doing clean and professional stage hypnosis shows for schools, corporate parties, and private parties. For years stage hypnotists kept hypnotism alive when the traditional academic community was not interested in hypnotism.   If you’ve never seen a good stage hypnosis show, I recommend you find one!   It is hilarious, fun, and simply incredible how powerful hypnosis can be with good subjects!
